Those are some good looking chess players. Sporting some good looking shirts.
Today we handed out t-shirts to all the chess players. Some chess players need to still bring in permission forms, otherwise they will not be on the chess ladder. We didn't get much chess played today as we were taking pictures and having just good chess fun.
our match with Weber Elementary will be Nov 8th Sunday, from 1pm to 4pm at the Coralville Library in the Basement.
we have two times the number of players as Weber, so we may have some Borlaug vs Borlaug matches, and we can have these matches USCF Rated if both players agree before the game starts.
This is a great time to make some chess friends.

New Chess Year. Changes ahead
Alas my schedule is changing, and I am not sure what days I will have off. With the new school years time changes I am thinking 7:45am to 8:40am. I will keep you posted when My schedule does indeed change. Also we will not be starting until October as my schedule at work may be changing days.
Iowa Open RBO (rated beginners Open) is on Aug 29th. A five round g30 d5 tournament. It will be great to come and play. At the Coralville Marriot Iowa River Landing. Claudia Munoz will be there she is the Girls Champion of the USA 2014. It would be great if some of our girls came out and maybe she would go over their games and do some chess lessons with them.

In our end of year awards ceremony it was like the fourth of July as each Student received a sheet of bubble wrap along with their medals.
This year whenever I brought in clocks for club use, the students would invariably start to pop the bubble wrap packing that the clocks are packed with. And as a responsible chess coach, I would tell them "no" so when ordering my last batch of awards, I had to order online as my local trophy guy just had a heart attack, I had a large amount of bubble wrap. I must say that this was the loudest award ceremony it was a popping good time.
Horn Elementary is sponsoring a tournament this Saturday, May 30that 9AM 5 rounds of g30.

Round 4 Pairings, Disneyworld and No Chess Club Next week May 6th (book fair)
Fabulous Morning of Chess. Although these pictures are from what I was doing last week. I went with the West High School Marching Band to Disneyworld. I can say it was hot. I got to Pack and Unpack instruments and Band Uniforms and perform bed checks and wake teenagers up in the morning. I have a feeling I will be doing this for the next ten years. My goal in 4 years is to have a West High Band Chess Tournament at Disneyworld. Lightning would approve. See you all May 13th, with our last club meeting to be the 20th. I may have an awards day the 27th since the book fair is pushing us back one week. And thank you Ritesh without your help this end of year tournament would not have happened.
